Creating a template (with data) from an existing site.
Click on the link to your Site in the left hand column. We’ll use Wiki as an example.

Click on Site Actions and select Site Settings.

Under the column named Look and Feel select Save Site as Template.

Give the template a filename(no spaces), a template name (The will be the name that displays on the site), then check the Include Content box. OK To complete

After you receive the Operation Completed Successfully screen, Click on the link Site Template Gallery.

You will now see the template you just created under Site Template Gallery. Procced to click on the Name of the template file to save it.

Now save it to your desired location on your computer.
You have now saved your Wiki or site as a new template that includes all the data that was previously there.
Importing a saved template from one sharepoint site to a new SharePoint site
Click on Site Actions and select Site Settings from the Home page of SharePoint.

Under Galleries select Site Templates.

Click on Upload and select Upload Document.

Browse to the location you saved the template file and select OK to upload.

Give the template a name and a Title (The title will display on the SharePoint site). Click OK to finish

You will now see the template in the Template Gallery.

Now add the template as a site
From the home page click on Site Actions then select Create.

Under Web Pages select Sites and Workspaces.

Give a Title (Will Display on SharePoint), a URL Name (same as title but without spaces)

- Click the Custom tab then select your template.
- Click Create to finish.

You will now see your Template on your SharePoint site.
